Synopsis

Introduction: Zoonoses cause over 60 % of human infectious diseases. Deforestation, climate change, and livestock intensification drive their spread. Methodology: Narrative review of 2020–2025 studies from PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science on zoonotic epidemiology and control. Results: Main zoonoses identified were leptospirosis, yellow fever, and brucellosis. Less than 40 % of countries have integrated surveillance; antimicrobial resistance increases. Discussion: Preventive One Health-based strategies are effective; fragmented approaches are not. Strengthening genomic surveillance and institutional coordination is essential.
