Synopsis

The Odontogram in Forensic Odontology: an instrument of reconstruction, was elaborated from a research whose purpose was to optimize this technical-legal odontological instrument for the identification of persons. The text can be referential on the fundamental role of dentistry in the reconstruction of the identity and history of individuals in the field of forensic sciences. A thorough exploration of the history, techniques and real cases was carried out, which show its value in recording in detail the dental condition of a person, and its usefulness in identifying and clarifying the circumstances of a crime or death. 

The subject matter was approached from a comprehensive perspective encompassing the collection and documentation of dental data and the interpretation of forensic findings. Modern methods of dental radiology, analysis of dental records and interdisciplinary collaboration with other branches of forensic science were discussed. Cases in which forensic dentistry played a crucial role in solving crimes, identifying victims and recognizing perpetrators were considered.

The value of the book is related to its impact on the scientific community and its practical utility for forensic odontologists, forensic experts, health professionals and jurists. It offers an in-depth look at how details in tooth structure can tell silent stories and allow the reconstruction of the lives and identities of people in cases of criminal interest or disaster situations.
