Post-COVID financial impact: a look from university students
Synopsis
Personal finances seek to develop financial knowledge such as planning the obtaining and use of income; however, the pandemic generated alterations in these processes in the face of the new educational model imposed by the circumstances. The objective of this research was to measure the impact on personal finances in university students due to the presence of Covid-19. The development of the research was based on the qualitative approach, at the descriptive level, it was retrospective-cross-sectional. The study population was 632, the sample corresponded to 240 students and the instrument was applied randomly in the School of Finance of the Faculty of Business Administration of the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo in Riobamba-Ecuador. The results show that 75.83% are students from the Sierra, 13.33% from the East and 10.42% from the Coast and that in order to get involved in the new online model they had to acquire 56.66% laptops, 21.67% smart cell phones, 20.42% desktop computers, 1.25% tablets and that in order to have such devices they bought 83.33%, 15% borrowed and 1.67% rented. The 65.84% of students acquired the devices between 100 and 600 US dollars and 92.5% were forced to opt for different types of financing to obtain them, hence personal finances took on new priorities in the face of the new educational model imposed. The results of the present research lead to the development of new research that will contribute to new empirical knowledge.
